Filming Process

Day One

The first day filming we organized what costumes we will be needing throughout the entire filming process. This was a vital part of planning as costume is an extremely important convention in music videos. We then continued to do some of the performance aspect of the video, where we filmed the majority of the lip syncing. We also filmed the driving shots that will be used at the beginning of our music video.

Day Two

The setting used for this day was at the Horse and Well pub. During this day we had to visit four different pubs before we were able to get filming permission, this was a long process but was successful in the end. We learnt that we should have planned where we were filming and should have previously got permission as this wasted some of our filming time. Whilst at the pub we looked to see where each shot would go in relation to our storyboards. We were also able to retrieve some props from the pub such as a snooker table, drinks, and game machines, these were very useful and made our shots a lot better and more realistic. Overall it was a good filming day.

Day Three

We returned to the pub where we had filmed day two, to shoot the second verse of the song. This day was more difficult as the lip syncing wasn't as easy as expected but it worked out eventually. We re filmed some of the shots from day two as they were not as good when we uploaded them on day two. We filmed the brake lights of the car driving away and also filmed the name of the pub as a point of view shot, as in the song it says "cut to the pub" and this would be an ideal shot to use.
Unfortunately when we returned to school after a hard day of filming to upload our footage, the tape was faulty and all the footage was damaged, and therefore could not be used.

Day Four

We continued to film the performance aspect of the video and had to re-plan when we were going to be able to re-film the footage that was faulty the previous day. We have found out through difficulty that planning is an extremely essential process in the making of a music video, as sometimes unexpected errors occur throughout the filming process.

Day Five

After we had uploaded some of our footage from the pub, we realised we needed more. When we got to the pub we sorted out all our props, and started to film. However, another disaster occurred with the camera. There was a faulty with the camera so we couldn't use it. As we we had many problems previously we became very stressed. Ellie resolved our problem by using her digital camera to film the remaining parts to our pop video. We were worried in case when uploading and putting the video together the quality of the image wouldn't be the same. However, this was not a problem and finally all of our footage needed for our film was filmed so we could continue with the editing process.
