Conventions of a CD Advertisement

There are several conventions of an advertisement for a music advertisement, a typical music CD would consist of the following:

  • An iconic picture of the artist, usually the picture that is on the album cover.
  • Background information of the record label, usually consisting of their logo or brand name.
  • The logo and brand name of the artist, this helps to promote themselves to the public. Also it helps the audience identify the CD they are looking for.
  • The Contact information through the means of websites, email addresses and information on the record label, this is so the consumer an get in touch with people involved in making the CD.
  • A review of the CD, which may include the favorite tracks of the person being interviewed, and why this their favorite track, this may also include a star rating from a particular music magazine or company such as NME.
  • The people that feature in the track, and some of the people involved in the manufacture on the songs on the CD
  • Outline the genre of the CD, and what what was the artist's thoughts whilst creating the album, if they had any influences from other artists, f if thier was a theme to the CD.
  • An overall genre of the type of music the CD consists of so the consumers can know what to expect to hear and feel when they listen to the CD.
  • Other relevant information on the artist for example their tour dates, album signings etc.
