Planning Process - Knock Em Out

Before we can start filming out music video we need to plan out our idea so we know exactly what we are doing. Before we created our story boards we took the lyrics and analysed each line and thought of an idea and how we were going to shoot it. Underneath at lyrics we wrote our ideas and what we are going to do for that part of the song. From the planning process we were able to discover setting, locations, props, costumes etc. This is shown below:

"Knock 'Em Out"

Alright so this is a song about anyone, it could be anyone.

Girl gets off the train, girl begins lip syncing as train door opens.

You're just doing your own thing and some one comes out the blue,
Girl exits station.
Continues lip syncing, boy approaches

They're like,
"Alright"
What ya saying,
"Yeah can I take your digits?"
And you're like, "no not in a million years, you're nasty
please leave me alone."

Boy lip syncs, asking for number, flashing phone.
Girl lip syncing, dirty look, walks away.

Cut to the pub on our last night out,

Establishing shot of the pub.

Man at the bar cos it was his shout,

Boy leaning on the bar, attracts bar tenders attention.

Clocks this bird and she looks OK,

Makes eye contact, cheeky wink.

Caught him looking and she walks his way,
"Alright darling, you gonna buy us a drink then?"

Friend approaches, lip syncs.

"Err no, but I was thinking of buying one for your friend..."

Main girl walks out the toilet – toilet sign in the background up to bar

She's got no taste hand on his waist, tries to pull away but her lips on his face,
"If you insist I'll have a white wine spritzer"
Friend lip syncs – kisses boy

"Sorry love, but you ain't a pretty picture."
Boy lip syncs – girl walks away

[Chorus]
Can't knock em out, can't walk away,
Girls walk out of pub and sees the fight

Try desperately to think of the politest way to say,

Just get out my face, just leave me alone,

And no you can't have my number,

"Why?"

Because I've lost my phone.

Oh yeah, actually yeah I'm pregnant, having a baby in like 6 months so no, yeah, yeah...
Open coat and touch stomach

New Boy
"I recognize this guy's way of thinking..."

As he comes over her face starts sinking,
Girl looks down

She's like,

"Oh here we go.."

It's a routine check that she already knows, she's thinking: "They're all the same."

"Yeah you alright baby? You look alright still, yeah what's your name?"

She looks in her bag, takes out a fag, tries to get away from the guy on a blag, can't find a light,

"Here use mine"

"You see the thing is I just don't have the time."

[Chorus]
Can't knock em out, can't walk away,
Holds up fists
Goes to turn away, but turns back

Try desperately to think of the politest way to say,
Face expressions and lip sync

Just get out my face, just leave me alone,
Shoves to the side, look in the eyes

And no you can't have my number,

"Why?"

Because I've lost my phone.
Hide phone – face expressions

Go away now, let me go,

Are you stupid? Or just a little slow?

Go away now I've made myself clear,

Nah it's not gonna happen,

Not in a a million years,

[Chorus x2]

Nah I've gotta go cos my house is on fire,

I've got herpes, err no I've got syphilis...

AIDS, AIDS, I've got AIDS!
Girl running away shouting with her friends, laughing..

We then took these ideas and put them into a story which showed each shot we are going to use and stated which tyoe of shot it was to be aswell. We created a story board so when we go out to film we know exactly what shots we need to get. Once the story was finish we had to film and edit the story board to make the animatic story board.
