Lily Allen is a 25 year old singer, she produces pop music with an Indie/alternative rock stance which makes her very different to any other artist as well as difficult to put her into a category for a target audience. She is featured on many radio stations like Radio one, Absolute Radio and Capital radio, showing her diversity as an artist. She has been signed with two record labels over her 5 year music career which started with her debut "Smile" in 2005. She signed with Regal in 2006 and Capitol in 2007, both which she is still signed with today. She has collaborated with many artists including Professor Green and has songs produced by Mark Ronson.
Her debut album, Alright, Still, was released as a limited-edition 12" vinyl in the UK on 3 July 2006. The full CD release followed in the UK on 17 July 2006. Most of the songs which appear on her album were previewed on her MySpace page, including the singles "Smile", "Knock 'Em Out", and "Alfie".
The song we have chosen by Lily Allen is Knock 'em Out. There is no official music video for the song but instead we listened to the song, printed the lyrics and looked at other peoples interpretation of the video to get a few ideas. The video we are going to create with aim at young girls 16-21 and we will aim to achieve this by keeping the cast young and keeping an upbeat and fresh feel to the entire song.
The idea behind our video is going to be created by having a narrative side which will follow the story of the song almost word for word and will have a main character (Ellie) who plays the part of Lily, then some sub characters, two boys who are both looking to go out with Ellie and then another sub character (Bridget) who plays Lily’s friend and wants to go out with one of the boys. We will also have lip synching and performance which will be done by Ellie who Plays Lily's character within the narrative, so this will show continuity. as well as this, in many of Lily Allen's own videos, she tends to play the narrative role as well as taking part in the performance side.
We are going to use a range of shots, locations, settings and props to keep our song interesting and keep it away from being too repetitive or uninteresting. This will obviously also be achieved by the story and narrative as well as the performance side.
Thank you for listening.
