Presentation

As part of our research we decided to research into our artist. Robyn is a 31 year old singer from Stockholm and is known most famously for Show me love in the late 90’s. Her success continued into to 2000’s and she hit mainstrem success winning the Swedish Grammies in 2009 for best live act 08.

Robyn originally signed to Ricochet Records in Sweden, a subsidiary of BMG, she later signed with RCA records in 1994, in the early 2000’s she swaped from RCA to Jive records. Robyn has continued her success from Sweden, into the uk and USA. After her new electro pop sound in 2004/5/6 when she released “whos that girl” she received lots of negative feedback in which she then left Jive records and set up her new Record lable, Konichiwa Records. Robyn has released 6 albums in the past 15 years and is still a top success all over USA and Europe with her most current album Body talk pt.2

Her genre of music has changed and is now electro pop and dance.

Many of her recent videos revolve around performance and some narrative but can be abstract. We want to represent a narrative with some performance.

Robyns sound appeals to a wide range of people, it has a pop feel so the target audience would be girls aged from about 15/6-early twenties. “whos that girl” was released in 2005 in the UK and reached twenty-six on the Uk single chart.

The idea behind our video came directly from “whos that girl” in which we will have three stereotypical girls in stereotypical settings in a normal day in which we then change up and subvert it and move the settings to show how people fit in society. We plan to cut to the beat of the song, use performance and narrative.

We will have a range of settings from brick lane to a school and will show settings of a stereotypical day to a subverted day.

We will have three characters: a chav, a business woman and a goth. In which they start in their usual day in a stereotypical setting in which it then changes to their opposite settings. The mood were trying to create is an awareness of stereotypes and how they can be viewed. It is a serious mood and not jokey.
